Cataldi Block
Creekside. Cool Climate.
This creekside block runs from southwest to northeast along the eastern edge of Talon Creek. With a cooler microclimate, this block enjoys shade in the morning and afternoon, allowing the vines to grow with vigor. The soil contains alluvial deposits (materials deposited by rivers) and is less rocky than the rest of the vineyard. These conditions cause the berries to ripen slowly and develop lovely aromas. This block is named in honor of the Cataldi family, who immigrated to America in 1905.
